Special Olympics Leadership academy

Special Olympics will on Tuesday the 12 September, 2017 unveil the First Lady of the Republic of Zambia, Esther Lungu, as the “50th Anniversary Ambassador” for the African Region.

Special Olympics, an organisation which deals with children with intellectual disabilities is currently conducting a “Leadership Academy” which will come to a close on the 14th September, 2017.
The conference is taking place at the Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) and over 20 African countries which include: Kenya, Botswana, Uganda, South Africa, Nigeria, Liberia, Namibia, Ghana, Zimbabwe and Zambia are taking part.


Minister of Youth, Sport and Child Development, Special Olympics President and Managing Director for Africa Region, and Deputy Head of Mission, US Embassy in Zambia will present the 50th Anniversary Symbol to the first lady.


After the presentation of the symbol the first lady will interact with children with intellectual disabilities through different sports activities.
The event will start at 09; 00 hours.


The media is advised to be at the OYDC at 08; 30 as the ceremony will take place in the Chamunda Hall at the OYDC Lodge within the Mult sports facility.
