OYDC Zambia Hosts Farewell Dinner as Foloko Commends Outgoing OYDC Zambia Board and Committee Members

OYDC Zambia hosted a special farewell dinner to honor members of its Board and Committees who have successfully completed their term of service. The event, held at Pamodzi hotel in Lusaka yesterday, brought together stakeholders, partners, and staff to celebrate years of commitment, leadership, and contribution to Zambia’s sports development.

The outgoing board members led by Chairperson Simangolwa Shakalima whose terms began in either 2018 or 2021, were each presented with Shields of Honour in recognition of their outstanding service to the Centre and the nation. The dinner served not only as a farewell but also as a tribute to their unwavering support in advancing the mission of OYDC Zambia.

In his keynote address, the National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) President Alfred Foloko commended the board and committee members for their resilience and vision during a period marked of service to OYDC Zambia.

“To all the members of the OYDC Zambia Board and Committees, whether your journey began in 2018 or 2021, I offer my immense gratitude. Your commitment has been the foundation upon which the progress of the Centre stands. You have devoted your time, insights, and passion to a mission greater than yourselves: fostering the dreams of the athletes, empowering communities and elevating the nation’s sporting heritage,” he said.

He also encouraged those continuing in service to carry forward the torch, emphasizing that “the groundwork has been laid; now it is time to build on.”

The OYDC Zambia community looks ahead with confidence, guided by the solid foundation built by those who served with distinction.

In attendance was NOCZ secretary general Boniface Kambikambi, OYDC Zambia acting CEO Benjamin Tembo, Board Members, and NOCZ Athletes Commission Chairperson Esther Siamfuko to attend the farewell dinner of the OYDC Zambia – Sports Development Centre outgoing executive board and committee members.
