Support OYDC Zambia, Lusaka Deputy Mayor urges stakeholders

Lusaka Deputy Mayor Christopher Shakafuswa, on Friday 17, January, 2020 appealed to the corporate to make use of the OYDC Zambia – Sports Development Centre by hiring the facility for sport and social events.


He said the OYDC Zambia is making great strides to improve its facilities hence the need for more support from the corporate world. He said this during the Friends of OYDC Zambia Cocktail which the centre hosted and attracted over 50 companies and sports associations. In addition the deputy mayor expressed happiness that OYDC Zambia had in 2019 successfully made its facilities available to host the Southern Africa Inter-Municipal Sports Association Games organized by the Zambia Local Authorities Sports Association.


Speaking earlier, National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) president, Alfred Foloko said partnering with OYDC Zambia by the corporate world will positively help to develop sport in the country adding that some of the partnership opportunities include sponsorship of programmes, advertising on facilities, hiring multipurpose halls, lodging, conference facilities and many others. Foloko further announced that OYDC Zambia records over 1000 facility users on a daily basis.


Meanwhile, OYDC Zambia Board of Trustees Chairperson, Simangolwa Shakalima, paid gratitude to all stakeholders for honouring the invitation to attend the Friends of OYDC Zambia Cocktail Party. And OYDC Zambia, Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Fredrick Chitangala, said that management values all the support that comes from the corporate world and reiterated the centre’s commitment to remaining a “Centre of Excellence” in the region.
