British High Commissioner Experiences Boxing at OYDC Zambia

British High Commissioner to Zambia, H.E. Rebecca Terzeon, has visited OYDC Zambia – Sports Development Centre, where she stepped into the boxing ring and experienced first-hand the discipline, focus and determination that define the sport.
During her visit, H.E. Terzeon joined renowned boxing coach Karl Whalley for a practical boxing session at the OYDC Zambia boxing facility. Whalley, a former Chairman of the United Kingdom Armed Forces Boxing Committee and an England 3 Star International Coach, has been working with Zambian boxers and supporting the development of the sport.

The visit provided the High Commissioner with an opportunity to experience the Centre’s sporting environment and appreciate the facilities that support athlete training and sports development in Zambia.
H.E. Terzeon shared highlights of her visit on social media, describing her experience as a fun glimpse into the discipline, focus and determination behind boxing, while noting how sport continues to bring people together.
OYDC Zambia was delighted to host the British High Commissioner and appreciates her interest in the Centre and her engagement with sport and athletes in Zambia.
The visit also comes shortly after Coach Whalley guided Team Zambia’s boxers during preparations for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, where Zambia secured two bronze medals through Catherine Mwape and Emmanuel Katema.
The Centre looks forward to continued engagements that use sport as a platform for partnership, youth development and social transformation.
