ZAMBIAN JUDOKAS WIN 17 MEDALS IN ZIMBABWE

Zambian Judokas who traveled to Harare for the Zimbabwe Japanese Ambassadors judo open tournament have minted 17 medals for the nation.

The medals are (10) gold, (5) silver and (2) bronze.

Some of the medal winners in the men’s category are; Japhet Musonda 50kg (gold), Emmanuel Mubila 55kg (gold), Jonathan Mwaba 60kg (gold), Christopher Mulenga 66kg (gold) while in the women’s category Shalom Kalandanya 48kg (gold), Filet Musonda 52kg (gold), Anita Kandela 63kg (gold), and Mercy Bowa 63kg (silver).

The minting of 17 medals has elated Zambia Judo Association.
Association General Secretary Mabvuto N’guni says judokas did not go to Zimbabwe for a vacation but to show their competitors how ready they are for the upcoming regional games in Malawi dubbed African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5 Youth Games.

The tournament which was held at Hartman House School in Harare kicked off on Saturday and attracted over 100 Judokas.

Zambian Judokas are expected to come and flaunt their medals back home on Monday.
