Zambia to host 2019 Africa Weightlifting Championship

The Olympic Youth Development Centre (OYDC) will play host to this year’s Africa Weightlifting Championship slated for 5th to 9th September, 2019. Weightlifting Federation Africa (WFA) Vice President Dr. Kevin Duplooy, announced during a media briefing held at the OYDC, that the competition will attract 15 African countries and further stating that the Championship will be used as qualifiers to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. MORE MEDALS FOR TEAM ZAMBIA AT AUSC REGION 5 GAMES

Zambian athletes Kennedy Luchembe (athletics), Daniel Mbewe (athletics), and Niddy Minglishi (athletics) have minted medals in the 400m final men and women race respectively at the ongoing Africa Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5 taking place in Gaborone, Botswana. Team Zambia arrives back home on Monday

Team Zambia will arrive back home on Monday 22, October, 2018 after participating at the just ended 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina. BRONZE MEDALIST BUNTY HOWARD EMERGES TOP IN AFRICA

2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games bronze medalist in the jump team event Bunty Howard, has emerged top in Africa despite her not qualifying to the finals.
