The Teulings Youth Sports Challenge (TYSC) continues to prove its value as a breeding ground for Zambia’s future sporting champions, following the impressive performance of three of its table tennis athletes who helped the Zambian Senior National Teams secure bronze medals at the Southern African Regional Championships in Harare, Zimbabwe.

Grace Kapula, Paul Lungu and Christine Mulumba, all active participants in the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge, were part of the national team that proudly represented Zambia at the regional showpiece, returning home with well-deserved bronze medals.

Their achievement is yet another milestone for the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge, reaffirming the programme’s growing reputation as a pathway from grassroots sport to international competition. Through regular, structured competition, the initiative continues to identify, nurture and develop young athletes with the talent and determination to compete at the highest level.

For Grace, Paul and Christine, the journey from TYSC to the international stage reflects years of dedication, discipline and hard work. Their success serves as an inspiration to the hundreds of young athletes who participate in the Challenge across its various sporting disciplines, demonstrating that consistent effort and the right opportunities can turn sporting dreams into reality.

The athletes’ accomplishment also highlights the impact of sustained investment in youth sport. By providing a competitive environment where young people can sharpen their skills and gain valuable match experience, the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge is helping build a new generation of athletes capable of proudly wearing the Zambian colours on the regional and global stage.

OYDC Zambia Sports Development Centre has congratulated the trio on their outstanding achievement, describing the bronze medals as a reflection of the programme’s commitment to developing sporting excellence while creating opportunities for young people to realise their full potential.

The Centre also paid tribute to the athletes’ coaches, clubs, parents and guardians, whose unwavering encouragement and support have played an integral role in their development and success.

As the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge continues to produce athletes who transition from grassroots competition to national teams, its contribution to Zambia’s sporting landscape becomes increasingly evident.

Each success story strengthens the programme’s mission of developing future champions while inspiring more young people to pursue excellence through sport.

For Grace Kapula, Paul Lungu and Christine Mulumba, the bronze medals are more than just a podium finish, they are a reward for years of commitment and perseverance, and another reminder that Zambia’s sporting future is in capable hands.
