Zambia Defence Force 50th Anniversary Celebrated at OYDC Zambia.

Sports activities commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Zambia Defence Force have officially commenced at OYDC Zambia in Lusaka, bringing together members of the defence services, government officials, and invited guests.

The activities were officially launched by the Permanent Secretary, Mr. Maambo Haamaundu, who symbolically kicked off the sporting programme with a penalty kick, signaling the start of the various competitions organized to mark the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Zambia Defence Force.

The event has attracted senior leadership from the defence services, including Deputy Service Chiefs, who are actively participating in the sporting activities alongside officers and personnel. Their involvement highlights the importance of sports in promoting discipline, wellness, and teamwork within the defence forces.

A variety of sporting disciplines are being contested during the celebrations, providing an opportunity for participants to showcase their talents while fostering stronger bonds among members of the defence services and the wider community.

The sporting activities form part of the broader programme commemorating 50 years of dedicated service, sacrifice, and commitment by the Zambia Defence Force in safeguarding the nation’s peace, security, and sovereignty.
