Athletes witness tree planting ceremony

OYDC on Saturday morning hosted the Lions Club, Zone 14 for a tree planting ceremony.

The Lions Club, Zone 14 were welcomed by OYDC Director Dr. Fredrick Chitangala.

Lions Club, Zone 14 Chairperson Lion Carolyn Ndawa, disclosed that the aim of the tree planting was to help with the environment as trees are an important part of people’s lives.

OYDC Director Dr. Chitangala, applauded the Lions Club, Zone 14 for choosing the OYDC to plant the trees which have being named after some of the sport heroes who have been using the facility to shape their skills. The names are; Kabange Mupopo (Athletics), Simon Zulu (Judo), and Edgar Kazembe (Tennis).

The event was witnessed by athletes who were competing in the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge.
