German Volunteers Praised as OYDC Zambia Hosts Successful Handball & Basketball Friendship Games

OYDC Zambia has praised German volunteers Laszlo, Titus and Tammo for successfully organising a vibrant handball- and basketball friendship tournament that brought together teams from Lusaka and Livingstone in a celebration of sport, unity, and youth development.
Held at OYDC Zambia, the event featured both boys’ and girls’ teams competing in exciting matches aimed at strengthening relationships between teams from the two cities while also improving the level of competition among young players.

For handball, the participating girls’ teams included Livingstone Handball Hunters, Bluewood, and OYDC, while the boys’ category featured Livingstone Handball Hunters, Bluewood, Kamwala, and OYDC.
In basketball, both girls & boys teams came from several distant sites in Lusaka, like the Kabwata Tigers, Fountain of Hope, Panthers Warriors and Napsa Hurricanes, but also included regional teams with OYDC, Olympafrica, Lilanda and Matero Magic.

Last but not at least, the guest of honour, Livingstone’s youth basketball section was a very vibrant and important part in the success throughout the two days of competition.
The tournament was organised to give players from Livingstone valuable competitive exposure and create an opportunity for teams to assess their strengths and weaknesses as part of their development. Beyond the competition, the games also focused on promoting fun, joy, teamwork, and friendship among the athletes.
Speaking during the event, Mwange Kampamba commended the volunteers for their commitment and dedication to youth sport.

Kampamba also thanked all the athletes for showing up in large numbers and competing with discipline, passion, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
The event created an energetic atmosphere at OYDC Zambia, with players showcasing determination and teamwork while building stronger bonds between Lusaka’s and Livingstone’s youth sports communities.
