NOCZ President Represents Zambia at IOC–INTERPOL Workshop in Zimbabwe

National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) President Alfred Foloko represented Zambia at the International Olympic Committee (IOC)–INTERPOL Workshop on the prevention of the manipulation of sports competitions taking place in Harare, Zimbabwe.

Foloko is attended the workshop in his capacity as Third Vice President of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), representing ANOCA President Mustapha Berraf.

Speaking during the opening of the workshop on behalf of ANOCA President Mustapha Berraf, Foloko underscored the importance of collective action in safeguarding the integrity of sport. He noted that competition manipulation remains a threat that no single institution can address alone, calling for stronger collaboration among sports organisations, law enforcement agencies and public authorities to effectively prevent and combat corruption in sport.

Foloko further reaffirmed ANOCA’s commitment to supporting initiatives that protect athletes and preserve the credibility of competitions across Africa. He urged participants to actively engage in the discussions, share experiences and develop practical solutions that can be implemented in their respective countries, emphasizing that future generations deserve to compete in sporting environments that are fair, transparent and free from corruption and manipulation.

The workshop brought together representatives from National Olympic Committees, law enforcement agencies, governments, and sports organisations to strengthen collaboration in preventing competition manipulation, illegal betting, and other threats to the integrity of sport.

Also representing Zambia at the workshop is IOC Believe in Sport Ambassador Nchimunya Mweetwa, who joined delegates from across the continent in discussions focused on promoting clean, fair, and transparent sport.

The joint IOC–INTERPOL initiative seeks to strengthen inter-agency cooperation and reinforce the commitment of the Olympic Movement and its partners to safeguarding the integrity of sport through education, prevention, and coordinated action against corruption and competition manipulation
