Taekwondo athletes showcase “super kicks”
ZedLion Taekwondo players yesterday put up a great performance at OYDC during the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge. The athletes train and conduct other activities at OYDC in preparation of local and other competitions.
The fights were in the U10 to U17 categories respectively. Teulings Taekwondo coordinator Sydney Njala, applauded OYDC management for having continued to manage well organized league games at the Centre.
Njala, added that the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge, which comprises of five sports disciplines; Swimming, Netball, Beach Volleyball, Taekwondo & Hockey and support to different sports academies is ideal for talent identification and development in the country.
He appealed to would be Zambian sponsors to consider supporting the OYDC and identify sports disciplines which currently have no sponsors at the multsports facility.
The Teulings Youth Sports Challenge (TYSC) at the OYDC is sponsored by Coen Teulings, Chairman, of the Merifin Capital in Belgium. The competition has been running at OYDC since 2011 and has seen a number of athletes being selected to national teams and local and international clubs.
