COEN TEULINGS NODS OYDC ZAMBIA FOR THE SMOOTH MANAGEMENT OF TEULINGS GAMES

Lusaka, Zambia 15 May 2023: Coen Teulings Sponsor of the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge at the OYDC Zambia has disclosed that the smooth management of the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge confirms the original concept which was signed 12 years ago.

Teulings who is the Chairman of the Merifin Capital in Belgium says it is motivating to see some young talented athletes from communities surrounding OYDC given the opportunity to use the sports facility to develop themselves and later take part in major competitions.

He disclosed that the Centre stands a good chance of becoming the most admirable facility in the region and Africa at large if well supported stating that he was impressed to see some athletes training as he toured the facilities on Monday 15 May 2023.

He added that his organisation is very proud to be associated with the OYDC Zambia having seen several local and international athletes who have gone through it and minted several medals at various competitive prestigious games.

Meanwhile, OYDC Zambia Chief Executive Officer Dr Fredrick Chitangala has announced that management through the board of trustees is working around the clock to ensure that some facilities whose lifespan has reached get a facelift so that more athletes can continue using the OYDC for training and competition. He adds that in the next few weeks, the centre will receive a new floor to be put in the multipurpose hall an exercise being done through the National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) which was selected among other NOCs in the region to benefit from a sponsorship agreement signed between the Association of National Olympic Committees in Africa (ANOCA) and Gerflor a leading renowned flooring company in the world.

Dr Chitangala further said the Centre is looking at other avenues to renovate ‘worn out’ facilities and members of the public and the sports fraternity will be informed accordingly as the recently launched 2023 to 2028 strategic plan whose focus is aimed at investing in top-notch facilities to support high-performance sports is being implemented.

And National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) president Alfred Foloko has appreciated Coen Teulings for the support he has been rendering to OYDC Zambia for the last twelve years. He says results have been seen and many athletes can testify who have gone through the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge which remains one of the biggest youthful leagues in the country engaging athletes below the age of seventeen.

He says with support from the Government and ANOCA some of these worn-out facilities will be worked on and the facility will continue to be a pride of Africa where Olympic heroes are groomed.

While in Zambia Coen Teulings and his wife Pauline Krayenhoff will pay a courtesy call to the Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts on 16 May 2023 and later meet heads of national sports federation under the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge.
