Teulings attracts hockey team from Chongwe
The Teulings/OYDC Youth Sports Challenge has continued to gain momentum a few weeks after the sporting season was launched at the Centre for the year 2021.
At the weekend about 500 young talented athletes came to compete in hockey, netball, beach volleyball and taekwondo with strict adherence to all health guidelines.
Teulings Hockey coordinator Floyd Chomba disclosed that Saturday’s activities were amazing stating that a new team Scimitar Hockey from Chongwe became part of the youthful competition. Chomba further said it is encouraging to see more teams coming to participate stating that this is helping the sport of hockey grow in the country.
“We continue to see more numbers here for hockey this shows our sport is gradually growing and we hope to continue hosting more competitions such as the Teulings which the OYDC is usually organizing for the young ones. We salute them for that and we pay gratitude to Mr Coen Teulings Chairman of the Merifin Capital in Belgium who had continued to support OYDC with funs to run these games” he said.
Meanwhile, athletes from Taekwondo which was hosted at the weekend had a great time exchanging kicks. Teulings taekwondo coordinator Patson Ngoma stated that the competition equally saw good numbers of players who came to compete and expressed delight that if well nurtured the athletes have the potential to represent Zambia at major competitive games.
