Zambia settles for Bronze at Cana Zone IV Swimming Championship

It was a splendid colorful four days swimming competition which attracted 14 Countries.

The 2022 CANA Zone IV Swimming Championship which was being hosted by Zambia at OYDC Zambia – Sports Development Centre has come to an end with neighbouring country Zimbabwe reigning supreme.

Zimbabwe retained the title after scoring 2735 points combined team scores. Mozambique emerged second with 1987.50 points while hosts Zambia scored 1928 points to emerge third.

Despite not emerging Champions, Zambia scoped 77 medals in total with 39 Gold, 18 Silver, and 20 Bronze.

Team Zambia’s 12 year old swimmer Cole Mulenga made the team proud by amassing 14 medals i.e 9 Gold, 4 Silver, and 1 Bronze.

Zambia Swimming Union president Guy Phiri described the hosting of the prestigious swimming Championship as successful and congratulated all the teams for their dedication to mint medals during the competition.

The Championship kicked off on Thursday 14 April and attracted Countries like Botswana, Comoros, ESwatini, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, and hosts Zambia. 📸 NOCZ/ZASU/OYDC
