In his quest to see that Zambia continues to host several prestigious sports events Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) Zone 6 president Alfred Foloko who is also National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) president has implored visiting CANA Zone IV executive members to take advantage of the OYDC Zambia facilities.

Foloko says OYDC if well supported and utilised it can host a number of sporting events and subsequently camp athletes at its lodge in preparation for international events.

He told CANA Zone IV president Jace Naidoo and his Secretary General Shaun Adrianse shortly after touring OYDC facilities on 14 April 2022 that management is doing everything possible to work on some of the facilities whose lifespan has expired hence the need for support from both local and international organisations in terms of partnerships.

Meanwhile, OYDC Chief Executive Officer Dr Fredrick Chitangala told executive members that the centre has been hosting many Countries through the sport of judo, boxing, athletics and others stating that management remains committed to welcoming more as it improves on some of its facilities. He added that OYDC is happy that it will be one of the facilities that will be hosting some of the athletes who will be preparing for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

And CANA Zone IV president Jace Naidoo, expressed happiness that OYDC has more opportunities and facilities to host major sporting events which can attract other countries.

Naidoo, added that he will discuss with other executive members and see how best CANA Zone IV can partner with OYDC for future events.

And CANA Zone IV Secretary-General Shaun Adrianse said the best time to produce Champions for Africa through sport is now as he echoed his president’s sentiments to share the proposal with other federations and his association executive members.

The duo are in the Country witnessing the 2022 CANA Zone IV Swimming Championship which kicked off on Thursday 14 April and will run till 18 April 2022.
