OVER 140 SPORTS PERSONS RECEIVE TEULINGS REWARDS

It was an amazing moment at the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge grand finale hosted at the OYDC Zambia on Saturday 25 November 2023.

Athletes, Coaches, Teams, Media, Umpires, and Clubs turned up in numbers to receive trophies, medals and shields for their outstanding performances for the year 2023 in the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge sponsored by Coen Teulings Chairman of Merifin Capital in Belgium.

There was joy and jubilation as athletes were notified that their sponsor was celebrating his birthday as the grand finale was underway.

Coen Teulings representative Hans Bertels was in the country to witness the crowning of champions for the year
2023 delivered the message of love from Coen Teulings to athletes and advised them to continue striving for excellence in sport.

OYDC Zambia Chief Executive Officer Dr Fredrick Chitangala disclosed that next year’s Teulings Youth Sports Challenge will see an inclusion of other sports disciplines in the league games. He appealed to and thanked all sports associations to continue working with the OYDC Zambia to develop sports not only at the grassroots level but also at an elite level.

The OYDC Zambia Board Chairperson Simangolwa Shakalima paid gratitude to Coen Teulings Chairman of Merifin Capital for his enormous support to the OYDC Zambia. Shakalima stated that the majority of these athletes in the Teulings league at OYDC Zambia continue to excel in their different sports disciplines adding that other corporate entities and individuals should emulate Teulings and consider supporting any sports discipline at the OYDC Zambia.

Meanwhile, Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts Hon Elvis Nkandu hailed the support Coen Teulings continues to render to the OYDC Zambia which is not only benefitting the sports facility but the nation at large by producing talented athletes being selected for national teams and clubs.

The minister in a speech read on his behalf by Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts Acting Director of Sport Gibson Muyaule said through the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge young athletes are instilled with values such as discipline, determination, and fair play adding that the values will not only shape young persons as athletes but also as responsible citizens and future leaders of society.

The Teulings Youth Sports Challenge has been running at the OYDC Zambia since 2011 with support from Coen Teulings who is the chairman of Merifin Capital in Belgium.
