OYDC salutes local sports federations

In its quest to continue nurturing and producing sports heroes OYDC Zambia has paid gratitude to local sports federations who have continued to show immense support to the facility.

OYDC Zambia Chief Executive Officer Dr Fredrick Chitangala says management cannot improve facilities without the support from national sports federations hence the need to make them have access and see to it that they contribute to the development of sport at grassroots level using OYDC.

Speaking on Friday 25 March during a luncheon with different sports federations held at OYDC Dr Chitangala reminded presidents and general secretaries that they play a vital role at the OYDC hence the need to have their athletes camped at OYDC Lodge as they prepare for different games.

He added that the lodge has been renovated in some areas a process which is ongoing and soon some of the worn out sports facilities will be replaced stating that OYDC remains open to host major local and international events.

And Dr Chitangala thanked sports associations for the key role they played in 2018 by contributing to the formation of the 2018 to 2022 OYDC strategic plan which comes to an end in June. He further announced that the next strategic plan will focus on improving worn out facilities.

Meanwhile, speaking earlier National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ) president Alfred Foloko, disclosed that the support OYDC is getting from local associations is encouraging and urged association heads to help lobby for more support from their international federations.
