Teulings Baseball5 attracts team from Zimbabwe

The Teulings Youth Sports Challenge on Saturday got interesting as a team from Zimbabwe was in the country to take part in the baseball5 games.

Baseball5 was recently added to the Teulings league organised by the OYDC Zambia and supported by Coen Teulings Chairman of Merifin Capital in Belgium.

The Zambian athletes managed to win all the Baseball5 games played against the Zimbabwean athletes.

Zambia Baseball & Softball Association General Secretary Kenny Matishi says the games played against Zimbabwean athletes will help Zambian athletes gain more exposure to how other countries play the sport.

He disclosed that the association is grateful to the OYDC Zambia for having added baseball5 to the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge.

Matishi added that the association shared notes with coaches and administrators from Zimbabwe on how to grow the sport of baseball5 and expressed hope to see more countries coming to compete in Zambia.

Meanwhile, Harare Baseball5 team manager Kudzai Prudence Nyamizinga said the sport will continue gaining momentum if more support is given.

She says back home the sport is being promoted in schools and the communities.

She indicated that her players enjoyed competing with the Zambian athletes adding that the atmosphere at the OYDC Zambia lodge where the team camped is very conducive with welcoming members of staff.
