A young boxer of CK Boxing Club Mutale Kaoma says boxing is all about skilful knowledge and training if one has to win when in the ring.

The twelve (12) year old on Saturday 5 May 2023 at the OYDC Zambia punished his opponent from Green Buffaloes to record a split point 3-2 win in the 32.9kg weight category.

The young boy who started playing boxing in 2022 says he will continue using the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge at the OYDC Zambia so that his dream of competing in the Commonwealth Youth Games can come to reality.

Kaoma while in the ring made spectators cheer at him as he made sure that the opponent was placed in a tight corner while getting baptized with youthful punches bracing for future Commonwealth Youth Games.

After being declared winner the young boy said “I knew I was going to win, this is my second time taking part in Teulings games this year. My focus will be to train hard so that my dream to compete in the Commonwealth Youth Games can come to pass”.

And his coach Steven Chungu disclosed that he brought two boys for the competition and said the boys have a bright future ahead if they continue with their passion for the sport of boxing.

Meanwhile, Midlands Boxing Association (MABA) General Secretary Morgan Mwansa says several boxers from the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge in 2022 have now graduated to join the U20 senior national team.

He says the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge through the OYDC Zambia has contributed greatly to the development of boxing at the grassroots level in the country and should be appreciated.

Some of the boxing teams present during Saturday’s 24 bouts include; CK, Exodus, nKwazi, OYDC, ZNS, Red Arrows, Youth Empowerment, Olympafrica, Evergreen, Petku, among others.

And on the same day other games in rugby, teqball and taekwondo were played at OYDC Zambia.
