Zambia Handball National Team Intensifies Preparations at OYDC Zambia ahead of the 2026 Handball Africa Cup.

The Zambia Men’s National Handball Team has intensified its preparations ahead of the 2026 Men’s Handball Africa Cup of Nations, as the team steps up training to ensure peak performance at the continental tournament.
The championship will take place from 21 to 31 January 2026 in Rwanda and will bring together 16 African nations competing for continental honours and qualification spots for the 2027 IHF Men’s World Championship.
Zambia is among the nations set to participate, alongside strong contenders such as Nigeria, Tunisia, Algeria, and Egypt, following the official draw conducted in late 2025. Zambia has been placed in a challenging group featuring hosts Rwanda, Tunisia, and Nigeria.

The Zambian national team will open its campaign against host nation Rwanda on the opening day of the tournament, a fixture expected to attract significant attention from handball fans across the continent.
In preparation for the championship, Handball Zambia has placed the team in camp at Mwiluzi Lodge in Lusaka, with training sessions being conducted at OYDC Zambia. Players are undergoing intensive physical, tactical, and technical training as part of the build-up to the tournament.
One of the team’s coaches, Coach Kalunga, expressed satisfaction with the team’s progress in camp.
“The team is putting in a lot of effort and responding positively to training. We are confident the players will be ready to compete at the highest level,” he said.

With preparations gaining momentum, Zambia aims to make a strong impression at the continental showpiece as it takes on some of Africa’s top handball nations in Rwanda.
