There was massive cheering and euphoria when a young boxer Daniel Banda best known as CJ stepped into the ring to showcase his prowess.

Banda, a teen and boxer from Exodus Boxing Academy has proven to be the favourite among those who come to watch the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge hosted and organised by the OYDC Zambia.

The young lad has competed in eleven bouts from the time the 2023 Teulings Youth Sports Challenge commenced and has only lost one fight. Saturday, 30 September 2023 Banda lost to Miracle Chibota of Youth Empowerment on a 4-1 split decision in the 30kg weight category.

His loss didn’t make him feel bad but asked for a rematch stating that he is optimistic that he will flog his opponent through a knockout the next time the two face each other.

“I am not hurt to have lost. I have won 10 fights before and losing today calls for me to re-strategize my game. I am looking forward to a rematch so that I can teach this boy a lesson” he said in an emotional interview to the OYDC Zambia media team.

Banda who draws inspiration from Zambian boxer Patrick Chinyemba, who recently qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games disclosed that the nation should look out for him as his skill in the ring produces thunder that leaves spectators thrilled and astonished making them feel like they’re watching professional boxing.

Meanwhile, Miracle Chibota who disappointed Banda with a win said it was his first time to win his opponent acknowledging that he is a very good boxer.

He said he looks forward to a rematch as requested by Banda stating that it will be a heated fight.

“I am ready for a rematch. My friend is a good boxer and I respect him. He has won several fights, he beats” he said.

Teulings Boxing coordinator Ariel Banda has observed that the pace at which Daniel Banda is moving whenever he is fighting is motivating as he fights like an adult which makes his opponent fear him.

“Trust me this boy, he is the future Olympian. He is good and fights well. In years to come we shall produce the next Patrick Chinyemba, Stephen Zimba and many others through this boy. We shall soon see this boy grow into an Olympian. He just needs to be nurtured more as he grows” he said.

The 2023 Teulings Youth Sports Challenge grand finale will be held on 25 November 2023 where top outstanding athletes will be rewarded with trophies and medals.

The games have been sponsored by Coen Teulings Chairman of Merifin Capital in Belgium since 2011.
