Over the weekend, over 300 athletes representing beach volleyball, handball and hockey took part in the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge.

The games were the last ones for the three sports in the Teulings league as they now switch focus to the grand finale on the 26 November.

OYDC Zambia programmes officer Likemore Mahunje says the preparation for the much anticipated grand finale is progressing well stating that all those who have been outstanding during the league will be rewarded.

He says in the next two weeks the other seven sports codes out of the total eleven will also finish their league games.

He paid gratitude to all the teams which came to participate on Saturday and came as far as Chongwe district.

This year’s Teulings Youth Sports Challenge on the 26 November is expected to be graced by the Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts and will have representation from the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Teulings Foundation/Merifin Capital, National Olympic Committee of Zambia (NOCZ), National Sports Council of Zambia (NSCZ), sports federations among others.

The league games are sponsored by Coen Teulings Chairman of the Merifin Capital in Belgium.

Several young talented Zambian athletes have greatly benefited from the Teulings Youth Sports Challenge with some using the games to prepare for major games such as the youth Olympic, All Africa, Commonwealth and Region 5 games.
